The Asiatic toad (Bufo gargarizans) is a common amphibian found across much of East Asia, including China, Korea, and parts of Russia. It has a stout body, warty skin, and typically brown or grey coloration that helps it blend into its surroundings. This hardy species is mostly nocturnal, emerging at night to feed on insects and other small invertebrates. Like many toads, it produces a mild toxin from its skin glands as a defense against predators. The Asiatic toad is also significant in traditional Chinese medicine, where secretions from its glands have been used for centuries.
