Aldabra tortoises are one of the world’s largest land tortoises, weighing up to 550 pounds. Males are larger than females and have longer, thicker tails. Males can weigh up to 250kgs and their carapace can measure 4 feet in length. Females can weigh up to 160kgs with a carapace up to 90cm long. The largest free-roaming tortoise ever recorded was an Aldabra tortoise weighing 300 kgs.
